Join Palestinian Tatreez artist Amanne Sharif for an engaging pre-recorded virtual workshop where you'll learn to stitch traditional Palestinian embroidery (Tatreez) directly onto your favorite photographs. This unique experience blends Palestinian cultural heritage with modern creativity, allowing you to celebrate the beauty of Palestinian embroidery in a new, personal way. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced stitcher, this workshop will guide you through creating a meaningful piece of Palestinian textile art while honoring the tradition of hand-stitched Tatreez.
Note: Basic knowledge of Tatreez stitching is required, as this class will not cover the fundamentals.
In this introductory session, you will:
- Learn about the essential materials for photo Tatreez
- Watch a demonstration of designing and executing photo Tatreez pieces (including some digitizing tips and tricks)
- Discuss the logistics of this mixed-medium art form
- Address questions from the design process
- Receive a post-class assignment to design your own photo Tatreez pattern
What you'll receive:
- Upon registration, you will receive access to the pre-recorded class video through a private YouTube link. The video can only be viewed through your registered email address. Please allow 24-48 hours for access.
